Frequently Asked Questions

What is Smart Glass & Smart Film?

Smart Glass & Film is an innovative and versatile invention. It is also known by its technical name, PDLC film which stands for Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal. Smart Film consists of two thin layers of PET film, these films are coated with a fine layer of conductive ITO. A special mix of polymer and liquid crystal is cured extensively then inserted between the film. The polymer functions as a compactor between the two conductive PET sheets

How does Smart Glass & Smart Film work?

When your Smart Film or Smart Glass is off, the polymer crystal solution within the two PET sheets has the crystals arranged in a random manor, making your window opaque (frosted and private). Once switched on, the electrical run travelling between the two PET sheets travels through the polymer liquid crystal solution. This electrical current aligns the randomly scattered crystal molecules suspended in the polymer and attain a uniform position which in return makes the window clear (transparent).

What is the difference between Smart Glass & Smart Film?

Smart Glass is electrical switchable film that is laminated between two glass panels, easy to install like regular glass. Perfect if you don’t have the glass installed yet. Smart Film is an electrical switchable adhesive film that can be applied to existing interior glass partitions or exterior windows. Perfect if you already have the glass and want to upgrade.
